GPS - 2nd Blog
This whole week has been a BIG blur for the GPS team. Last Thursday we all made our way to North London where a huge film crew, and photographic team met us to create the much awaited television promo for the Paranormal Investigation Live show.
The team were met by Living TV producers, makeup artists, Public Relations Managers, Runners, Art Directors, and Stylists. The morning seemed to fly by and we all felt what it was like to be a star for the day. I remember being first into makeup and telling the artist that it all felt very surreal. She said ‘get used to it, as this is going to be an amazing journey for you all.’
Various people were introduced to us and we seemed to be the centre of attention which again felt surreal, but nice. The models hired to wear scary outfits or be styled to look simply terrifying on the advert joined us in make-up and one of them asked us ‘what role we were playing today’...We paused before simply saying, we are the paranormal investigation team heading up the show.’ He turned towards us and said, ‘so how did you get the part’....We all answered, ‘We do this for real and are the best at what we do’.
It was simply astonishing at how the massive crew all pulled together to make the whole day work. The schedule, timing, direction, styling and movements were all synchronised like instruments. The team were amazed that a gloomy looking London Warehouse could be transformed into a very scary looking set for this promo shoot...
"...I didn't know what to expect....but what an amazing day!...it was so hard to go back to my day job after!...I don't think ill forget this day in a hurry...can’t wait for the live event thanks to everyone that made is possible"... - Phil Measey
We were asked to stand together as a unit and look like we meant business... It was strange because we felt like this was the business. If you know what I mean. The huge light above our heads was burning and felt bright enough to give us all a super tan. The director said action, and we simply looked down the barrel of a giant broadcast camera. The shots were clean, full of flare and we felt like stars. Ghost hunting had never been so sensational I said. The team all agreed that this was an amazing experience and we soon felt at ease with the whole thing.
“...OMG I felt like a star already. This is a dream come true for me...”- Laura McKeown
“....It was a long day, and exhausting but absolutely amazing. All I can say now is bring on Halloween!”... - Matt Watkins
Flash, change position, move, pose, and hold it were the words we heard from our photographer. He was great and full of enthusiasm and energy. We all had a role to play and were asked to perform poses for the camera which although felt unnatural also carried with it a more personal and familiar sense of things given how our day been so far. I secretly loved the photo shoot as It was so revealing and totally got my adrenalin going.
The team all looked fantastic with their kit and combat gear on. We felt good, looked good and just wanted to get on and investigate that scary building across the street lol. I am sure we were being admired by the spiritual paparazzi at that time.
As the end of the day drew nearer there was still a load to do and discuss. The show is only 4 weeks away now and so much still needs doing. Are we prepared??? I don’t know. This is all moving very quickly and becoming ‘evidentially’ real now, but GPS are LIVING it and can’t wait for the Halloween weekend.
